The Cold Supper Boys are an energetic, Manhattan-based bluegrass band, bringing their brand of 'high lonesome' to audiences in the NYC metropolitan area. Their songs are packed with harmonies and driven by skillful playing on the banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and upright bass. The Boys perform a wide variety of tunes, from Bluegrass and Gospel standards to their own originals and unusual covers.

Since August 2005 The Cold Supper Boys have had a residency at The Parkside Lounge on the Lower East Side, where they can be heard the first Monday of every month. They have also played at other hot spots such as Laila Lounge, Ace of Clubs and The Roger Smith Hotel to name a few, as well as at festivals and private receptions in the area.
RaphiRaphael Biran has been playing the violin for a while, but he only started calling it a "fiddle" about three years ago. He's trying to put his low voice to good use with The Cold Supper Boys, and is currently refining a new singing style which he fondly calls "Low Lonesome." When not attending bluegrass shows across the Eastern Seaboard, Raphi spends his time as a web developer and freelance choral singer.

BenBen Chinn was born and partly raised in the bluegrass hills of London and currently resides in Brooklyn. Given these geographical disadvantages, Ben had to discover bluegrass like most other city boys, by watching Deliverance and listening to Jerry Garcia. He's grateful to the twist of fate that led to a jam session with CSB fiddler Raphi Biran. Ben is still working on releasing his inner good ol' boy and embracing the mighty twang.

RobBorn and raised in New York City, Rob Day was first struck with the banjo bug after hearing "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" playing in a taxi cab radio at the age of 18. The lure of that five-string sound never left him, and he decided to pick up his first banjo in his early 20’s. Rob is able to buy new sets of strings by working at Scholastic in the Supply Planning department. He is also responsible for coining the name of this near-famous band.

JuliaThe token southerner of The "Boys," Julia Newman spent her tender years in Texas, where she begrudgingly attended many bluegrass festivals with her parents. Her rebellious nature landed her in NYC, where she adopted the ways of the cityfolk and broke the hearts of friends and family back in the promised land. She returns to her roots by singing bluegrass and feels blessed to have a place to wear her cowboy boots and pigtails.

RonRaised in Sandburg's City of Broad Shoulders, Ron Raymond heard his first musical calling and cut his teeth on the electrified Mississippi Delta Blues sound as played in the juke joints on Chicago's South Side. He later toured the country relentlessly backing up Elvis impersonators as well as playing with musical giants such as Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. Ron is a fiery musician of great feeling and the sounds he produces from his upright bass and vocals are quite revolutionary.

RafaelRafael Stein provides mandolin chops, some vocal leads and lots of harmony. Growing up in the woods of Vista, NY with three musical brothers, Rafael started playing classical violin at age 9, leading in turn to guitar, sitar, lute, and banjo, adding mandolin to his arsenal 5 years ago. When not rehearsing or gigging, he can be found with his gorgeous family in Jersey or helping run a successful architectural practice in Manhattan.
